Big Tour 2010 supports children’s charity

Kitchen and bathroom distributor BCG has launched Big Tour 2010, which this year will be retail-only and see it support charity Action for Children.

The event will take place at five locations across the UK, starting at Hampden Park in Glasgow on November 4.

This will be followed by the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on November 10; Manchester United’s Football Club, Old Trafford in Manchester on November 12; University of West England Exhibition and Conference Centre, in Bristol, on November 16; and Mercedes-Benz World in Weyb ridge, Surrey on November 18.

The Big Tour will play host to 40 brands, with suppliers launching products at the show, and aims to attract between 1,500-2,000 independent retailers across these locations.

Managing director of BCG, Chris Honer explained the decision to create a retail-only show: You can’t talk to the independent kitchen retailer in the same way you talk to a multi-brand independent merchant. This year, Big Tour is going to have the look, feel and taste of a retail exhibition.”

In addition, this year, BCG will also be supporting the charity Action for Children by raising funds and products for 15 projects across the UK.

Managing director of BCG, Chris Honer explained: What we wanted to do was leave some sort of legacy within each town and city that we visit. That’s why we’ve linked in closely with the Wolseley lightside charity, which is Action for Children.”

The BCG Big Idea campaign already has pledges for three complete kitchens, with retailer Wittering West offering the first.
