US Viking dropped in UKSole UK distributor of Viking, Coolectric will cease to offer these appliances with effect from March 31. Coolectric cited the difficult trading conditions of the last two years as a key factor in its decision. Managing director of Coolectric, Mark Bristow commented: Whilst there may be a long term future for the Viking brand in the UK, the investment required in the short to medium term is neither sensible nor sustainable. Cooletric will focus on its core business of supplying Liebherr refrigeration to kitchen and electrical retailers.
Coolectric had been importing and distributing Viking appliances since 2008. It aimed to tap sales potential in the top-end of the market for appliances which offered a gourmet lifestyle. Viking appliances were to be sold through kitchen showrooms and independent electrical retailers.
Designed and manufactured in the US since 1987, Viking cookers are sold in 80 countries worldwide. But the company also offers design co-ordinated fridge-freezer combinations, ovens, hobs, dishwashers and cookware. Coolectric had UK stock- holding of appliance spares and provided home delivery and installation. It offered dealer product training plus a marketing package, which was supported by an after-sales service from an in-house customer care team.

Joseph appointed Theobald's CEOFormer managing director of Allied Kingswood, Stephen Joseph has taken a controlling interest in Theobalds Distribution and is now CEO. Joseph has been acting as a consultant to the Kent-based business since September 2009.
He will be working alongside the operations director Jamie Gardiner and sales director Steve Brooks. Commenting on his latest role, Stephen Joseph said: I was impressed with Theobalds from day one of my consultancy. It has a great portfolio of products and an extremely good customer base. However, it soon became obvious that there was a bigger role for me at Theobalds than that of a part- time consultant. My faith in the company and its staff is such that I was prepared to work with Theobalds on a full- time basis and I have made a substantial investment in it.
He added: Its no secret the company has had a temporary cash flow problem, due to the current economic climate. The injection of working capital will enable Theobalds to put this probler behind them, retain the goodwill of its suppliers, and continue to supply customers: as usual. I am looking forward to my new role and to working with our suppliers and customers in building on the successful relationships Theobalds already enjoys.

This acquisition provides Samsung with the assets it needs to reach the top of Europes home appliance market, due to the synergy generated by Samsungs technology and excellent human resources in Poland, said Sangheung Shin, president of Samsung Electronics European headquarters. Amica has been in business for 65 years in Poznan and will continue to make cooking appliances in the city.
